...

Final tabled another small rebuy last night, this time it being the 5r. I finished 8th after I flatted the chip leaders 4x raise from EP with AA. The flop came KQ8, he obviously flops top two, gg me. So frustrating. Sososososososo frustrating.

Tonight is bars, and then tomorrow joelbird and I head down to Tampa to meet up with Danewfdonk and kick off the week of Drunken Degenerate Debauchery.

Its the little things...

that make poker so enjoyable, such as rivering a straight to make someone the official bubble boy.

Last night I played the 20 rebuy for the first time ever. Its a very solid field with lots of known players. I held my own though well, was in for only 60 and had like 14k after addon. I ended up cashing with 45 left, and made it down to the final 3 tables, when I got it in with 66<77.

Two nights ago also ran deep to like the final 4 tables of both the 5r and 10r, losing a huge pot when Q10dd pushed into my KK on a K78 rainbow board. 9,6 were the obvious runners. In the 10r I lost a monster pot for sizeable cl with 55 in a race against aq when we got in a shoving match. River Q nh. At least I was the shover in the pot.

All things aside things are good right now though. Got a stack with about 100 left in the 5r, LETS DO IT!1! One time for the kids plzzzzzzz.

In a perfect world...

I'd never forget to addon
I'd never pack cigs on the incorrect side, and on that note
I'd never smoke another cig again
Shitty pot wouldn't exist...nor the people who sold it
The river wouldn't exist...neither would perfect running cards
JETPACKS OBVIOUSLY

I can't see any way possible to end it better than with jetpacks, so...yeah.

Oh and let me run good tonight please one time for the kids!

I run bad (literally)

Today I took my first run in what feels like forever. The initial plan was to join the brand new YMCA that opened up just yesterday RIGHT near our house. However I left my credit card at a friends house who inconviently locked his doors today for the first time ever, and so I just decided to jog around the neighborhood.

I leashed Oscar and off we went. Unfortunately, Oscar just recently learned to mark territory, and found it necessary to attempt and pee on every mailbox we passed. The worst was when we passed two dogs his size, and he wanted nothing more than to play with them.

All I have to say is running with music is worlds better than running without. Today was the first time I ever ran with music and it was so solid that I will never run again without it.

Im also looking to add pushups and crunches to my sessions...well poker sessions. I plan on alternating between 10 pushups and 10 crunches every time I make a mistake playing poker. Hopefully this will be mutually beneficial to both poker and working out, as long as I am consistent with things.

One last note, Yankees take 2 out of 3 games from Boston in Boston. The Tigers are mad hot in the Wild Card, winning their last 5 games and being only 2.5 games out of the wild card lead. Man I love September baseball...but not as much as I love the Yankees...and even moreso, not as much as I hate the Red Sox :)

Making plans

Currently working on making a travel iternary for the upcoming week. On thursday I head down with my buddy joel to tampa to pick up Danewfdonk, as well as spend some time in tampa. Im sure this will include trips to bars and the Hard Rock, as well as a definative baseball game on the 21st to see the Devil Rays play the Red Sox. Surely, we will be drunk, and be rooting against the red sox.

Really looking forward to the trip, hopefully I can get everything taken care of ASAP.

Out in event 1

Lasted until level 4. I never really picked up any big hands and chipped up about 33% to my stack by playing alot of smallball poker. However I guess people began to pick up on my strategy and I had a float that got picked off pretty bad, and then I really misplayed JJ against a new player to the table who had opened about 80% of his hands thusfar.

Pretty dissapointed with my result but still got 25% of my action left in the field with danewfdonk, who currently is sitting on 12k in chips i believe. So GL HIM!

Drunk Dreams are the best...

Had a dream right before I woke up that I had just joined Reel Big Fish and that we were about to play for a ton of college kids in some sort of auditorium.

Now, I like RBF as much as the next guy, and this band definately paved the way for every single song that I know today, but I thought it was pretty funny that the one band my subconscious chose for me to be in was RBF.

Anyhow so now Im buzzin still from last night and listening to Reel Big Fishs live album, Our live album is better than your live album. In their defense, its probably the best live album Ive ever heard. Everything about it makes it just superb. And its 30 songs deep. Pretttty sick. So if you like ska feel good music, check it out.

T minus 3 hours, 10 minutes until the wcoop officially starts, and I can't wait.

Last night I started to get my buzz on, and was about to go to some empty seats at the bar to get another drink/shot (they go hand in hand.) There was a midget starting to get into one of the seats, and quite innocently (but come on I knew..) I asked (If you have ever met me, then you know....very loudly) who let the child in the bar. Good Game Alcohol removing any censorship my mouth my have.

OHHH I totally forgot some Dbag got thrown out of the bar and I guess was throwing punches, and our bartender went at the motherfucker with a chair! Even though belligerant, I knew this wasnt a good idea and grabbed the chair and made him put it on the ground. He later thanked me and comped me a round of shots. Fucking solid!

Away Messages of Truth...

I honestly play better drunk than these people play sober. Thanks for paying for my bar tab you jamokes.

Finally closed something!

Just won a 530 seat to WCOOP (World championship of Online Poker). It was a 5 rebuy and paid 4 seats. I already went ahead and unregistered the 530, then registered for Event #1, the 215 6 max. The structure for the tournament is great, with 3k starting chips and 30 minute levels. Event #1 starts tomorrow at 3pm, about the time I plan on my hangover clearing up.

As for the remaining 315 W dollars, I went ahead and sold them for 87 cents on the dollar. I would have rather played another 215 dollar WCOOP event, however none of them really appealed to me. So Im either gonna take the 275 I get back and just pocket it, or use it to play in the sunday warmup. The decision is probably pending my outcome tomorrow, and if I feel comfortable and pleased with my play.

Bars Tonight! Can't Wait!

Random, I know

Sometimes I like to pretend that Julia Louis-Dreyfuss' TV show "New adventures of Old Christine" is actually a continuation of her character of Elaine from Seinfeld. Also, that the new show is basically about how sleeping with half the men in New York City will often result in being unwed with a bastard child. Also, she has the HIV.

VICTORY!!!

Fucking Johnny Drama style babbby!

I wish this was referring to a tournament, but I'll take what I can get.

I took my external hard drive (a 160gb WD) to the geek squad at best buy today. I got two pieces of bad news right off the bat: This was the 4th time someone returned this hard drive as apparantly it was a very bad batch. Also, I purchased it on 7/30, meaning its been over 30 days which means no return.

So he ran some tests, and I got the good news that he could save all the info on the drive. Also, he hooked me up and got the HD comped. Better yet, I thought I picked out the same model, but really it was a 320 GB HD. The difference between the 2 was 8 dollars somehow. Nice.

Also, Im getting my first Ipod ever. Im pretty sure Im the last person in the modern world to get one. Its gonna be a 30 GB video ipod, and im very amped on it.

Only one tourney today, the 50$ 50k. Got to pick up the HD later so figured Ill limit my volume and just completely focus on one tourney. GL me, hopefully it goes better than this blog I just wrote did :)

Wise words in punk songs

Twenty one, feeling down
I tell you nothing with a thousand words
and I weaker get, with every step
I waste my money on compact disc's and staly fish
I can't remember the last time I did something that made
me feel alright longer than a few hours
if I only had the strength to make some muffins then I
swear that I would share them with you now.

-Bullion, Millencolin, Life on a Plate. Although some words are lost in translation from Swedish to English, these lyrics and songs are a great listen on a downer day.

Same shit different day

I told you I wouldn't talk about poker unless I made a final table, and I did.

I final tabled the 3r once again, doing it now on back to back days with both fields being 2500+ people.

I fucking finished 5th.

NH WP GG ETC ETC.
Soooo I got a little ingenious yesterday and figured out I could fit my blog address into my hometown on pokerstars. While its not truely my hometown, it is "my internet home", as gay as that sounds. But whateva, any publicity is good publicity. So if you made your way here from seeing this on pokerstars (and were smart enough to understand it was mrniphty.blogspot.com, and not mrniphty.blogspotcom), please, take off your shoes, relax, and enjoy the writing. Make this site a bookmark, or better yet, your homepage. :)

Right now Im trying to make another run in the 3r. I would love to final table it again today, and better yet win it. Ive been rollercoastering, going from 100k to 180k to 70k to 130k to 100k to 140k to 100k as I type this.

I just had to eat some words after this hand happened in the 10r:

He delayed on the call and i knew he had two overs, and felt sick when he called. Just one of those times when u have a bad feeling about a hand. Even though I was a 3-1 fav, I thought he was gonna hit, and he did, 2x.

So I started talking trash about european players, then missed a freeroll when I flopped a four flush with AsKs against AxKx, although obviously my hand failed to materialize. Of course the very next hand I get it in against the one dude who took pity on me, who was also european, and while I always would play this hand the same in this spot, I still felt bad:

-The office - hilarious, no matter how many times ive seen each episode
+I cant wait to see what happens with Jim and Pam

-Arrested Development- equally as hilarious if not even more so
+Season 2 of AD has like 4 fillins who are main characters on the office

-1k isnt so bad after getting a comped bartab for like 50 bucks and realizing work today can buy 20x of tonight.

Thats it, thats all, tomorrow i take it down ONE TIME FOR THE KIDS. Gnight bishes.

And so it continues...(But not in a good way....well kinda)

So I made another final table of a large MTT field again tonight, the 2:15 3 rebuy. With just under 2500 entrants, I found myself with the chip lead when we monied at 360 people. I lost about 33% of my stack thereafter, but tightened up and played some very solid poker, with nearly all of my steals and resteals being successful. We got down to the final table, and two people were knocked out within 3 hands. Our chip leader had a monsterous stack but was very active. This was my bustout hand, and I felt even with the small reraise, he was very close to folding. If he had just bet 250k on the flop, maybe...but alas:

I was a slight favorite when the money went in, probably 53-47. I picked up 3 more outs on the turn but failed to materialize. SFStandard.

So for the last two weeks Ive played online (and 6 of those days were devoted to live play), I have been tearing up fields, with 4 final tables in solid tournaments. However, my finishes have been 5,5,6,6 respectively, meaning I cant close worth shit. Im not gonna lie, finishing solid was definately on the back of my mind, but I wasnt playing to place higher. I wanted the win. (Or at least a solid stack if we decided to chip chop.)

The big one is so very close, but yet soooo far. I will not quit trying though, I will succeed.

Turn off your crying babies!

Went to go see 3:10 to Yuma tonight. Had to watch something good after watching such garbage this weekend with both the Irish and the Jaguars. And the Giants playing the Cowboys? As my buddy Mike said, "If only there was some way both teams could lose."

The movie was solid, starting slow but picking up pace for what I felt was a good ending. Definately recommended.

The title comes from that shit they show before the movie, with all the different distractions, and then saying, "Please, don't disturb others from enjoying the movie." In all honesty, my experience is partially fucked simply because other people are there. Someday, when I rule the world, Ill be able to watch the newly released movie when I want to watch it with whom I want to watch it...But until then though...sighhhhhh.

Saturday, September 08, 2007

I played shitty poker and blew stacks in like 3 tournaments. I made some hero calls and some steam calls and just really played some shitty poor decision making poker. However it was good in that the poker I was playing was very raw and tilty and so I was completely going on my first instinct which was very nice.

I ended up final tabling the 10 1r 1a. With like 70 people left I was chip leader, and by the time I monied I was I think 40 out of 45 left. I clawed back and played some solid poker, and built a solid stack back up again.....only to, yup u guessed it, donk it off, and then make it back going to the final table in the middle of the pack.

I played very tight at first and only made one steal that got picked off but I let go in the face of a threebet. I had 3 key hands, which all took place in the span of exactly 4 hands.

So thats it. I didn't get lucky and I got unlucky in two 80/20 spots. Fuck flips, those are gambles. But 80/20s are the backbone, the epitome of domination. I made a loose call with the 55, but he had no history whatsoever in the DB, and the entire table was going nuts with repops. But with the 1010, the PERFECT squeeze spot opens looking like Im steaming. I know what my push looks like. I want the call. uiheiurh wiurh FUCK FUCKASS FUCKING SHIT CUNT FUCK. I came real close to cursing in the chat room, but Ive been very good avoiding the permanent stars banhammer and intend on keeping my chat. So excuse my harsh language there but this is the only place that I can and am going to vent. So if you dont like it, FUCK YOU!!!! (And i mean that in the nicest way possible :) )

Last 3 final tables....2 5ths and a 6th? No wonder why I always offer to chop, my endgame is fucking atrocious.

I run bad

So my fucking external hard drive died yesterday. Ive had the thing for no longer than a month.

Say goodbye to every tv show ive bought from itunes, every movie on there (about 100), and every song (about 6k+)

To say I am pissed is an understatement. However this will not go in vain. I will take this up with best buy, regardless of the fact that I have no box or receipt. I will win.

A sad day

Today, I found out that one of my favorite people that I had met through online poker, Peeved, had passed away. He hadnt been online in nearly two months, and yesterday it was confirmed due to his health complications. He was a very stand up guy, and I am very saddened by this news. This was a post I wrote in Off Topic, a part of part of pocketfives that Peeved was very dedicated to posting to.

I remember the first time I met peeved. We both ran deep in a nightly deepstacks. I also felt like he was an easy blind to steal :) He ended up losing a flip with AK. He didn't leave the tournament though. We had made friends and he stuck around, sipping on some sort of alcohol and railed me to my largest tournament victory still to date. I was happy to make this new friend :)

From then on, we discussed poker alot. I got yahoo IM, and through it we chirped poker. He was my only friend on that buddy list. Together, I like to believe we mutually helped each others game. He showed me the patience that tight aggressive could achieve. I showed him the 2.5x raise (boy, did he like to minraise!). He would call me a LAGtard and in return I would call him a nit.

I learned through our talks that his profession was anthropology; that he had travelled alot; and that he had some health problems. But I know that he loved to play poker - - and even moreso, that he LOVED OT. Peeved is the number 1 reason why I even checked out Off Topic.

Peeved was hilarious. Sometimes though, he would mess up the punchlines....just a little. It made them even funnier and better in my eyes. Funny the things that you remember. My most memorable peeved one liner?

"You're the type of guy that sucks dick for cabfare and then walks home."

Peeved was the type of guy that would ask if you wanted a railcall as soon as you made a final table. He was that standupish, and ran by the golden rule.

So this post is for him, Peeved, in his honor. I like to believe that he would have liked it. Well either this, or a 3r last longer :)

RIP friend. You are surely missed.

Still, the placeyou live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone. I guess I just miss my friend." - Shawshank Redemption

Back in Tally

Fuck live poker!

And if you had told me the only pro player I saw my entire trip was Bernard Lee, I would have laughed my ass off.

Incidentally, he was a super nice guy, so Im gonna hope he comes in 2nd only to Rizen.

We came back a little earlier than expected, but now that Im back Im totally glad that we did.

Officially, I played 4 tournaments at the IP. I cashed zero times, with the one bubble, and about 987329487 bad beats. And 1 time of running ak into kk in a 4 bet pot. 3 times I managed to accumilate larger than average stacks. That last stat I dont like given I had no cashes. Maybe Im just being results oriented though.

Officially at the Beau, I played one tournament, the WPT nightly 2nd chance. Even though that was my only MTT cash, I am very pleased that it occurred in that tourney.

I played one sit and go last night, a 10 seater 65 that paid one 530 seat. A drunk old lady to my immediate right was very adamant about organizing both a last longer as well as a bounty. I believe we got 6 and 5, respectively, with only those competing being eligible. (Our "organizer" busted when it folded to her on the button and shoved about 25 big blinds at 50-100 with j6, only to be called by the chipleader in the BB with AK, lol)

I chipped up early when I got someone to double me up with 99 vs my kq after checkraising him allin on a K77 board. Then a shorty pushed in, and in a 3 way pot, flopped quad 6s, but received no further action.

Eventually, we got down to three. One kid was uber fucking fidgity. It was very apparant that he was fucked up on something, but I couldn't tell what. Perhaps the pot was impairing my judgement.

Right before the blinds hopped up to 3-600, ADD kid runs to the bathroom. I couldn't believe it. I really had to piss as well, but this was not the time with every blind being so crucial! I picked up 2 blinds in a row, which were crucial being the shortstack.

Eventually, we agreed to a 3 way chop, as I wanted blackjack money, and on top of that we were definately crapshooting and I had already survived one 60-40, and was not looking to deal with another.

After the sng, it became blatantly obvious the ADD kid was all coked up. Whatever, to each his own.

Today after running the AK into KK, I went down to the table games. I wanted to play blackjack, but the table I wanted was kinda full. I saw a 3 card poker game and played the 5 dollar bets. In a span of about 10 hands or so, I hit both 3 of a kind (30-1), but a straight flush (40-1) as well. I dabbled in blackjack and craps and lost a little but overall the table games broke me even minus expenses for the trip (it wasnt even that much too, like 300 bucks).

All in all, Im very glad to be back home. I hope to be writing some non poker related topics this week, which will be a nice change of pace, as Im kinda of sick of tournament reporting by now :)

Live poker is rigged

Have 3 tournaments to report on, but Im so exhausted right now that Im hoping to simply finish this blog before I pass out.

Yesterday johnny and I went back to the IP and played the 70 mtt (20 min levels, 3k chips). I chipped up early by flopping a set of 7s on an A high board, and had 3 bet jammed a big raisor whom I put on an ace. Apparantly it wasnt strong enough as he folded.

A few hands later, I look down at KK, and raise it to 425 after someone limped from 100. I got one caller from the button. The flop came down 10 x x, and I checked to the button who bet 450ish. I decided to push, and he called with JJ. Turn J, and down to 300 chips.

However I scrap and claw and picked my spots well, and chipped up to about 4k. My table was very weak and an exuberant amount of limping was occuring. At the 2/400 level, I had about 3900, when utg, a constant limper, limped for 400. It folds to me on the button and I look at AQ. While I normally will raise for value here, there was so many chips in the middle I forgoed position and jammed it. A crazy old guy in the sb goes all in as well, and flips two eights. Were off to the races, and a double up looks very good on an AKK flop. However an 8 spikes the turn and Q on the river, and gg me.

I chilled in the hotel room for awhile, keep updates on Dolan who was playing the 300 mtt at the beau. At 6pm we headed to the WPT room and watched dolan before we were going to go back to the IP for a 100 mtt. However Dolan said I should play the 175+25 second chance, and after I declined one time, he offered to back me. I instacalled, and we agreed on 60-40 swap in his favor. This was to be both my largest live buyin ever, as well as my largest live field ever (around 330 players.)

I was pretty happy with my table draw, as it was mostly older folks who are definately easier to read. We started at 25-25, 2k chips and 30 minute levels. I chipped up a little after playing a small pot with 66 on a 443 limped board. Then the following hand came up.

With blinds at 25-50, I raised to 125 with Jc10c. I got two callers from the button and a blind. The flop came 10 9 4 rainbow, and I bet out 150. I get a call from the button only, and Im pretty sure I have the best hand at this point. The turn brings a deuce, and I fire 275. The button calls leaving only 575 behind. The river comes another deuce pairing the board, and I check. The button moves in for the 575, and I think a little while while making sure Im not paying off a set or a better 10. While thinking, the button tells me hell show me if I fold, and I respond that I dont think that will be good enough. I make the call, and he shows 74o, GG.

I chipped up to about 4600, and at the 50-100 level, I raised it to 275 utg with KdQd. I got a cold caller from middle position, and the cutoff jammed for about 850 total. I did some quick math in my head, and I was getting roughly 3-1 on my call if the MP caller folded. I took a quick glance and his body language felt like he would muck if I cold called. I made the call, and as the MP caller folded, I told the pusher that I felt like he had 88 or 99. He asked if I played poker much, and showed 88. I spiked a King on the flop, and he bricked bringing me to about 5500 at break.

I played small pot poker and wasn't getting looked up by anyone. Then 2 new players came to the table. I ended up getting involved with both of them in back to back hands. The first hand, there were a few limpers and I completed my SB with a raggier hand. The flop came JcJh6c, and the first limper bet 300 when checked to him. I check raised to 825, and he called. The turn came 4c, and we both checked. The river dropped another 4, and I bet 1225. He called with A6, nh.

The very next hand it folded to the hijack, a lady with alot of chips who raised to 2x to 600. Steaming a tad, I look at A9 and cold call on the button, as does the SB. The flop drops 977, and it checks to the lady who bets 500. I raise to 1000, the sb folds and she calls. The turn comes a 5 a believe. She checks, and I bet 1250, with about 1600 behind. Instantly, she pushes all in. I tank it for awhile and play back everything. I ask her if she thinks I'm steaming from the last hand. She gives me a really weird response, like Im sorry if your steaming. I finally decided that 88 or 66 could be in her range here, and stick my chips in. She tables AK, and after dodging the 3 out king on the river, I had some chips to play with. The very next hand, UTG pushes for about 1350, and I repop to 2500 with AcKc. He has Ad8d, and my hand holds. Not long later, Im moved to another table, but only for one orbit, and Im moved to another table.

I sit down at my new table with about 12k, and immediately look down at KK at the 2/400 level. I pop it up to 1100, and get sick action. Call, All in call(the raise had him covered), call from table chip leader in the small blind, and then a reraise all in from a woman in the BB. She pushed for about 2400, allowing me a legal reraise. I opt to repush all in, and push out the 2 cold callers that had chips behind. The first shortstack shows A9, and the lady shows AK, and Im in good shape to win a 7k pot. The flop however brings the 2 out Ace, and Im steaming and down to about 8kish.
About 5 hands later, the chip leader min raises to 800, the AK lady from before cold calls, and I look at two jacks in the small blind. I squeeze it to 3100 total, the original raisor folds, and the lady again goes all in. She flips AcKc, and were racing. The flop came Jd8c4c, but fortunately she bricks out and I get all those chips back. I sit and wait for awhile, mostly paying attention to the players at the table. Our chip leader is a big black guy, who is limping alot and is just begging to be taken advantage of. Coming back from break, the blinds are at 4/800/100a, when the following hand occurs.

The chip leader limps UTG for 800. I believe this is his 3rd limped pot in a row. I look down at 10c8s, and raise to 2800 with about 14k behind starting the hand. It folds to him and he calls. The flop comes 722 with 2 spades. He very forcefully leads out for 3 1k chips. I take a minute and announce all in. He takes maybe 5 seconds and calls. My heart sinks and I table my 108, saying good call. He flips A1o high, no draw. I couldnt fucking believe it. The turn brings a spade, and the river brings a fourth spade to complete the flush! I was in shock, as well as good shape, as it was about a 32k pot.

At this point we were about 25 people from the money, and the abuse began. I chipped up to about 50k as I really turned on the jets and started pressuring the players. At the 8/1600 level, I opened up with Q4o attacking a weak Big blind. The table rock pushed in for 4200, and I called 300 more, knowing id need a suckout. He had AA, and my gutty going into the river failed to materialize. This was probably my only spew at the table, and it wasnt even a bad one.

I began to run rather card dead. I had a very friendly and talkative player in the 1 seat to my right, whose mannerisms and looks would remind you exactly of Freddy Deeb. We had already tangled in one pot, when it folded to him in the small blind and he raised. I looked at AQo and 3 bet jammed. He folded A10.

I believe it was the very next round, and it folds to him again (BB respeck!). He goes all in, and is unusually very quiet. I look at my first card, an 8, and tell him its a good card for him. The second card is an Ace, and it looked like I needed to call off 20-25% of my stack here. I made the call and he said good call. He flips 22 unfortunately though, and we race. He spikes a set on the flop, but it was no matter as my hand failed to materialize. After this hand I really lost alot of my moxy and started playing my hands for value, which was unfortunate as I wasnt picking up anything.

We hit break at about 2am, with 30 left and 27 getting paid. I had about 24k coming back with the blinds at 1k/2k/300a. My very first hand I look down at 55 and raise it to 5500. It folds to a nitty big blind with a shorstack, and he debates for awhile before pushing an additional 1k into the middle. I obv call and he flips AK. He flops and ace and doubles up.

After this I got moved to another table, which lasted for about 3 hands in hand for hand, until an older lady was all in in her big blind with q10 vs kj, and failed to materialized, making her the proverbial bubble boy.

I get moved to a new table with about 15k and the blinds still the same. Unfortunately, I sit in the big blind. Im down to 10k when its folding around and I look at 7c8c in the small blind. It folds to me and I shove. The big blind states that "Hes gotta gamble sometime" and calls flipping over kc7c...wait a minute....two seven of clubs???

Guess I was a little tired, and am utterly surprised when I see my hand: 8c2c. Its actually better as im only 60-40, and Im truely pushing any 2 in that spot.

The flop blanks, the turn blanks, and the river is a 2! I double up with a second miracle river. I order a beer and a shot of jack to both loosen my nerves and inhibitions, as well as celebrate the survival. I play tight for a round, and jam my next small blind again, only looking at one card, the Ace of clubs. The BB learned his lesson and instamucks, and I see my other card, the K of clubs. Oh well.

I steal the blinds 2 more times, and were down to 19, when the following hand occurs. Freddy Deeb our friend from before jams about 11.5k UTG with the blinds at 1500-3k. I look at 88. I do some math, take my time because this is a big decision, and repush all in. Isolation success, and Freddy turns over AQ, which is wayyyyy ahead of his range here. Were off to the races, and he spikes a Q and holds up. Im back down to about 17k.

Someone busts on another table, and we redraw. I of course draw the big blind once again, posting like 20% of my stack. A MP raises my BB, and I give it a goooood long think before mucking q8. She had A8, but I still wasnt happy. I had to find a hand for value, and ante off 3 hands before I look at my first card a King. I throw the rest of my chips in and get isod by a10. The bb wakes up with QQ. However the flop brought an ace, and while I turned 4 gutty outs on the turn, I failed to hit. I placed 15th for 560 roughly, a very disappointing finish.

I passed out exhausted last night right away, and hardly woke up at 1115 to play in the same daily IP tourney that Ive played the last 3 days. The first level someone raises it to 200, and I flat with 66 along with 2 other players. We see a flop of Ac6c3c. I check, original raisor makes it 300. I contemplate and check raise to 975. He jams all in, and I call. He flips AxKc, and he nut draw is gone with a 3 on the turn. The river bricked and I have 6k

I lose about 1500 when a weak overlimper limps for 200. I look at AQ and raise it to 625 out of position in the small blind. He calls and we see a flop of J99, two clubs. I check call 500. Turn is a blank, and once again I check call 500. The river is an offsuit 8, and I check and he bets 1000. I really felt I was good on both streets but probably misplayed the hand by never putting him to the test. I end up folding and he shows q10.

So Im at about 4k, grinding along. Im in the small blind and the big blind just put in 300 of his 1400 for the blind. It folds to this guy. Just one of those guys who thinks he knows what hes doing but is so obvious he had no clue. Now our table was opening very heavy, like 4x was prob the table minimum to open. It folds to douchebag in the hijack and he raises it to 1700. Im 100% positive hes just raising the BB cuz hes short. I look at A10 in the small blind. I have about 3800 before posting my small, and opt to stop and go since 2100 is alot of fold equity since most of these people have no clue about odds and such. The flop comes a lovely 966, and I shove my remaining chips in. He calls and tables j9o, gg me. At least I cant take solace in that my read was on, and I feel I made the optimal decision.

So thats it for now, Im looking to sleep for a little, and then hopefully play a few 60 dollar single table SNGs to satty into a 300 event tomorrow.

September 02

Frustrating start thus far. Right now I'm typing this on notepad instead of online because apparantly, there is only one outlet for laptops per room. Since Dolan is currently firing the million, I'm left stuck shit out of luck.

We left Tallahassee about 6pm est yesterday, during the stomping of the Irish. Definately not a good start to the trip. Upon arrival at the Beau Rivage, the waiting list for 1-2 no limit was about 30 deep. We called up the IP, and with a waiting list of four, we headed over there.

I was sat at a table with dolan, while the third in our party, Jonny, played on another table. We definately got a loose loose table. The player in the 9 seat, who was to my immediate left, was an idiot donkey who was fucking wasted. I licked my chops at double up opportunities. Unfortunately, I was nearly completely card dead. This led to timid poorer play by me, and was really unpleased with my play, when the following hand came up.

Im UTG +2, and had recently moved to the left to have position on the idiot donkey. UTG folds, idiot donkey raises to 20. I look down at two red Kings. I decide to jam in my remaining 97, 100% sure that I would get a call. To my surprise, a looser play two to my left flats, as does the idiot donkey. The flop came out QJJ. Idiot donkey checks, the third player bets 100, and idiot donkey check raises to 300 and gets a fold. He flips J10o, and I brick out and head to the bar. That hurt enough - however there was more insult to injury. Apparantly, Dolan folded J7 that hand, and on top of that, the third player in the hand held 1010. So in order for me not to triple up that hand, I simply had to dodge the one (1) remaining 10 in the deck, or both the remaining jacks. Ugh.

We left the IP around 2am and went looking for a hotel room. Unfortunately, Biloxi is fucking packed, and we ended up checking at least 10 hotels, all of which were booked. We ended up having to travel back all the way back to fucking ALABAMA, and got a room about an hour back from Biloxi.

We woke up today around 10 and decided to hike up to biloxi and play in the 70 dollar MTT at the IP. 3k starting chips, 20 minute levels. I really liked the way I played this tourney. I was very active and making moves both with hands and without. I won a monster pot the last hand before the 2nd break, with my 1010 holding against a10 and 89. I was our table chip leader with 2 tables left, and 10 seats paying. However, it was not meant to be. Somehow, my 46o didnt suck out against AQ all in pre. The board came K3333, and almost grabbed me a chop. I was down to about 17k in chips when the following hand came up.

13 left in the tournament and 10 pay. The 3 seat is an awful player, limping like 1/15 of his stack but staying alive by continuously firing bets that received no calls. I had been rather tight after the 46o hand, as tight was generally the feel of the table. 7 handed, I look down at k10o, and open up for 2600 at the 500/1k/200ante. I had about 17k behind to start the hand. The guy previously described flat called from the small blind, as he had flatted a few of my prior raises. The flop came 823 rainbow, and he fired out a 3k bet. I really felt like he was just trying to take the pot away, and pushed all in. He thought and called with QQ. 10 on turn, bricked the river, and with 1100 chips left, I busted the next hand, although I had the opportunity to septuple up.

Although I misread the hand, I am thoroughly happy with the way I played both that hand, as well as the tournament. I definately was table captain and people were both respecting and fearing me. As for that crucial hand, I wouldn't have changed a thing. He was definately a weak player, and coupled with the tight players trying to squeek into the money, on the board as well as the reads I had, I would likely make the same play 100 times out of 100. The only thing I didn't like was my passiveness at points, where I felt if the same table was being played online, I would have certainly been playing more aggressive.

Pretty cool little thing though...were on the 12th floor right now at the VERY end of the hallway. We have two gigantic windows that gives an amazing view to a crappier city of Biloxi. Recently, weve had a grasshopper come join us, chilling on our window of our high story room. I knocked him off before hitting the glass, but he must have liked the view and came back. =)

Anyhow, Im done with the blog. Im flat out of cash on hand but have a sizeable amount online. The goal is to turn it from electronic funds to cash in hand. GOOD LUCK ME!

Today marks the first Saturday of College Football. In some ways this day is like Christmas, in that it comes once a year. In other ways, its totally better than Christmas, because its COLLEGE FUCKING FOOTBALL. Going to college for 3 years in Bumblefuck PA at a small division 3 school, I never really experienced the typical college town atmosphere. However, now living in Tallahassee, I am very amped on drunken towns and wasted co-eds. All I know is that this shit better be good, because itll be about the only way to justify living in a city with traffic so bad.

Growing up in Florida, one would imagine that I would have allegiance to either UF or FSU, like so many other people in this state. One would further deduce that since I chose Tallahassee, my team of choice would be the Florida State Seminoles. However, assuming these things would make the proverbial ass of both you and me (Please forgive my mistakes there english gods). I am 100% Irish fan, Gold and Blue, through and through. I love everything that Notre Dame stands for, and if you catch me watching Rudy towards the end, youll likely notice that my visine totally missed my eyes. Do not be alarmed - it is simply inaccuracy due to the movie's TOTAL AWESOMENESS.

Last year for Christmas, my dad got me two tickets to Notre Dame vs LSU in New Orleans Sugar Bowl. Although the Irish got spanked, I had an absolute blast, and was a very great experience. (I wrote a blog while there after the game, the same day that I had been drunk for about 18 hours straight, perhaps Ill repost it here soon)

Unfortunately, this year looks to be a rebuilding year for the Irish. That's ok though. Bad years make the good ones so much sweeter. Plus Jimmy Clausen is gonna have to get some experience sometime, so might as well make it this year.

On the poker front, I played some cash games and a 100 MTT at the local cardroom yesterday. I played 1-2 nl first, bought in for gigantic 100 max, and got sat at a new, loose table. The player to my immediate right was maybe the perfect target. Rediculously loose (trying to catch runner straight cards with 7 hi), deeep deeep pockets, and starting to drink. I had chipped up to about 120 when the following hand came up.

LAGRO donk straddles UTG to 4. I look down at qh10h. I opt to limp due to people not really playing at his straddles. Folds to BB who calls, and utg checks. Flop is 10 7 3 rainbow. BB checks, Lagro bets 6, I raise to 15, bb folds bettor calls. Turn brings another 7, pairing the board. He checks, I bet 21 of my 91 behind, and he check raises all in. It was a pretty good bet, but my image of him was so bad that I couldn't justify folding. The river bricked, and he showed 10,2, with my Queen playing and boosting up my stack.

Later I misread a loose button raisor who I had played with before. We got it in and his 1010 owned my 88. Until the lucky 8ball hit the turn, and I had a stack.

My next to last hand, the lagro player raises it to 12 after winning about a 170 buck pot. I looked down at 99. If he had 100 or less, I woulda repopped, but he was a little deeper so I was hoping for an optimal flop to felt him (again). 2 other people called, and we saw a 4 way flop of 9 6 2, two clubs. It checks to me and I fire 30 into the pot. I get one caller, a good younger player who had about 50 bucks in front when I had sat down, and about 950 an hour and a half later. Turn brings an 8 of spades, bringing the board 9862, double suited. I debated checking, but fired 40 into the pot. To my surprise, the player jams all in. BARF. I start counting, and it looked like there was about 350 in the pot to my 200 behind. I counted out and really wanted to believe that he had a super draw, such as a7cc, etc. He told me to just lay it down, and for the most part I believed after that I was beat. I still took some time to think about my decision, before finally folding my 99 face up. He showed 10c7c. Guess I shoulda checked :)

As for the tournament, I never really got things going. The structure was as close to a turbo as I had seen, and when the blinds had hit 4/800/50 in the 6th level, I needed a spot. UTG 8 handed, my first card is an ace. I dont even look at the 2nd card. My image was very tight and I had only shown down 1 hand, my a9 vs 55 in a race I lost where there was a rediculous amount of dead money in the pot. So I shoved 3 BBs in, and even though I had no chips at all, I truly believed I had some fold equity. Yes, the players were so bad, with stacks so low, that players would fold for less than 2 more bbs. It folds to the sb, who calls. He flips kq, and so I know I at least got the better half of a race. My other card is a 6, I flop an ace but he flops a gutshot for broadway, and turns the 4 out jack. Such is poker.

Today Ill be driving out to Biloxi, after I take in some Irish Football. In fact, 5 minutes to game time. GO IRISH!
